Green Acres Landscape has been dedicated to serving the landscaping and yard care needs of local residents and businesses in Salem, Oregon since 1992. We began as a small company of just two passionate gardeners, but over the years we have grown into a business employing more than 50 diverse employees. Although we are now larger than the day we started, we never lost touch with our humble beginnings. We still run our business according to the same core values we held from the start. Our promise to every one of our clients is to provide them with quality, affordable, and environmental-friendly landscaping service. We proudly continue to stand behind our company’s slogan, “Leaving no footprint.”
As a landscaping company, we strongly believe that protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility, but it is quite literally our job. That is why our team here at Green Acres Landscape places such a high priority on the importance of being a “green” company.
We Are EarthWISE Certified
Since 2008, our company has been certified by EarthWISE. EarthWISE stands for Workplace Initiative for Sustainable Enterprise and is a program in Marion County which recognizes businesses that are committed to operating their companies in an environmentally-aware and environmentally-friendly manner. Companies that pass the certification process gain access to educational and financial support to help them become even greener businesses. In order to pass the certification process, your company must complete a self-assessment, practice recycling, use waste reduction and prevention methods, provide educational outreach programs, practice energy conservation, and possess many other earth-friendly qualifications.
Green Acres Landscape was one of the first landscaping companies to gain the certification from EarthWISE, and we are currently one of only three EarthWISE-certified landscaping companies in all of Marion County. As a company, and on an individual basis, our entire team continues to strive to find new ways to reduce our impact on the planet.
Top 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon
While we are very pleased to be a member of EarthWISE, we are also extremely honored that our employees have made us one of the 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon every year since 2009. The results of 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon are based on confidential surveys which ask workers to identify what their employers are doing to protect the planet from harm. In 2016, we received high marks in the survey for working with a majority of local supplies to reduce fuel consumption, returning wood pallets for reuse or recycling, and recycling nursery pots in order to reduce waste. The 2017 100 Best Green Workplaces in Oregon was released in June and we were thrilled to make the list once again.
We know everyone can do better when it comes to protecting the environment. That is why we are moving to provide all of our employees with a variety of workshops and training seminars throughout the year. Not only do these workshops increase our employees’ knowledge on how to be more earth-friendly in both personal and professional lives, the education also cultivates our company culture.
Starting Winter 2018, these educational opportunities will increase our employees’ understanding of environmental issues and teach them how to find better solutions for these problems.
